EMSE v5.4 is now available for download from www.sourcesignal.com/download.html.

What's New in EMSE Suite v5.4

EMSE 5.4 adds many new features to EMSE Suite, including:

-   Support of Start/Stop markers in a BioSemi continuous file by creating a multi-segmented file

-   Polynomial detrend of multi-segmented continuous files

-   Each segment is IIR-filtered separately when saving a multi-segmented continuous file

-   Batch averaging of frequency (psd) and time frequency data

-   New event-related averaging pipeline to manage multi-subject, multi-event-type data for automated analysis

-   Improved methods and a new user interface to specify logical rules for event sorting

-   Additional formatting capabilities for peak detection output to statistical packages, such as SPSS

-   Collect multiple averages into a single file for integrated review and analysis group data (e.g., group spatial component analysis)

-   Improved pen control for making black and white figures (e.g., for journals)

-   Image alignment to allow users to align, e.g., MRIs with CTs, or read out MNI or Talairach coordinates from individual subject MRIs

-   Nonparametric (permutation) statistical testing and enhanced visualization for spectral band coherence and power spectral density data

-   fMRI gradient artifact and ballistocardiogram correction

-   Time frequency enhancements, including

  • dipole fitting in the time frequency domain

  • faster, more efficient displays

  • faster, more efficient file storage for time-frequency transformed data

  • automated peak detection in the time-frequency domain

-   Enhanced file I/O capabilities

  • Read/Write EDF+ files

  • Read Nihon Kohden native files

  • Write Compumedics Neuroscan continuous (.CNT) files

  • Write multiple averages to EGI segmented simple binary format (compatible with NEMO and J. Dien’s ERP PCA toolkit)

  • Graphical user interface to create concatenated time series data files (EMSE metafiles)

  • Import Freesurfer wireframe and image files

-   Additional filtering capabilities

  • Moving average baseline and batch moving average baseline correction (useful for correcting near-DC drift)

  • Z-score filter (for e.g., event-related synchronization/desynchronization)

  • Savitsky-Golay filter (useful on conjunction with peak detection)
