Users of earlier versions of EMSE Suite
software will find that EMSE Suite v5.x is somewhat of a departure in its overall structure from v4.2. A
major change is the workspace concept, which allows you to group many
different files into a single project, and also to group different
projects into an integrated workspace environment. We have made a
substantial effort to improve the overall stability and reliability of the
software, and have fixed problems that our users have reported in
earlier versions, as well as implementing many user-suggested improvements. In addition, we have added many significant new
features which extend the software functionality, a partial listing of
which you may find below.
Data Editor
Wavelet transform is now available, with an interactive graphical user
interface (GUI). Spatial component analysis of time series, including PCA,
PCA with rotations (Varimax and Promax), and ICA (both InfoMax and SOBI).
Event Review mode allows you to view data and components on an
event-by-event basis. Additional file formats are supported (see
Formats page). The preprocessor module (PPM)
provides a "filter pipeline" where all your signal processing directives
are grouped, enabling you to see at a glance which filters have been
applied to your data, and to enable or disable any combination of filters
quickly and easily.
Source Estimator
Time-frequency domain (wavelet) source estimation is now supported for linear methods,
including LORETA. Signal space and source space coherence is available in
v5.1.
Visualizer
One-click animation and p-map displays, canonical and user defined views.
MR Viewer
More file formats are supported. 16-bit and floating point data can be
imported and displayed. Improved navigation with real-time sliders and
warp-to-point feature enabling you to instantly zoom to any point in the
volume. Additional support for fMRI datsets is included.
Image
Processor
Many new features have been added to the Image Processor to improve
segmentation: the brain extraction tool has been implemented, as well as
automated tissue classification using a hidden Markov random field
algorithm. An improved tiling algorithm now includes topology correction
and mesh reduction.
